Artist Statement.

How do you feel?
The feeling/imaginations my art evokes in me when I sit with them at their completion is how they get their story, I share this by the way of titling each piece to share a glimpse of that feeling with the viewer. Leading the viewer to a path that they can choose where they go on a journey too.

I create these works simply because I have to, they are my peace and quiet in a crazy world. My work is not political and holds no specific meaning or any special theme. In short I create modern contemporary abstract mixed media paintings with feeling.

Adventures played out in paint.

Each of my artworks is built up with multiple layers of paint and collage papers. I always begin with hectic scribbles, garish colour combinations and clashing patterns. Textural paint blobs and gouged out line work are present in each layer some are revealed in the sanding back process, some are lost forever. Gradually the works are covered again with more precise shapes and symbols and more refined colour palletes, cutting in and out revealing and hiding till the adventure comes to a satisfying end. Sometimes it’s a drawn out process, sometimes a quick respite. The final works are like a travel album that upon reflection reveal all the stages of my adventure.

Colorful abstract collage with various shapes, lines, and patterns in vibrant colors including blue, yellow, pink, red, black, and green.
